ICM is pleased to announce that our new Chief Executive Tom Thomas has commenced work at our Christchurch, UK-based offices, effective Monday 3 September.

Tom joins the Institute from Southampton Solent University where he enjoyed an impressive career spanning four decades. Most recently, Tom undertook the role of Dean of Southampton Business School, whilst his previous positions were as Lecturer in Mathematics, Computer-based Training Manager, Head of Business Analysis and Head of Academic Operations. In addition, Tom has been involved in establishing external companies primarily in information systems and management development.

“I am delighted to join ICM as the new Chief Executive,” Tom said. “A major part of my previous role as Dean of Southampton Business School included development of international business opportunities. It is clear that this experience will help me to develop ICM further in new and existing markets overseas.

“I also want to enhance the profile of ICM within the UK and over the next few months I will work with staff to push forward on this agenda. ICM provides an excellent range of products and has tremendous potential for further growth and I look forward to the challenges ahead.”

ICM’s former Chief Executive, Dr Alistair Somerville Ford, now takes up the position of Head of ICM Communications Group, as well as continuing his responsibilities as Joint Chairman of ICM. Commenting on Tom’s appointment, he said: “We are thrilled to have Tom on board. With over thirty years’ experience in the higher education sector, he is sure to be a real asset to the Institution. Both I and all staff members are very much looking forward to working alongside Tom and being involved in the positive changes he is sure to make.”
